Okay, so, you wanna hear about my time with the Will C. Wood football team? It’s a bit of a story, full of ups and downs, but here goes.
I joined the team a few years back. I wasn’t the star player or anything, but I loved the game and wanted to be a part of something bigger. Our coach, Jacob Wright, he was a real inspiration. The guy just knew how to get us fired up. We started the 2023 season strong, 3-0, can you believe it? We were on top of the world, feeling invincible.

Tough Times
But then, things took a turn. It wasn’t about the games, not really. Something happened that shook us all up. We were all really affected by what happened, and it is not easy to get back. Our record ended up being 1-9 for the 2024-2025 season. Yeah, it was rough. We struggled to get back to our winning ways, with some close calls, like that game against Fairfield where we lost 26-14. Gavin Kruszka’s interception almost turned the tide, but it just wasn’t enough.
Moving Forward
Despite everything, I learned a lot. About football, sure, but also about teamwork, about pushing through hard times, and about not giving up even when things look grim. I tried to look at the schedule for this coming season, hoping to see some improvement, and hoping to go to the field to support my friends.
- Joined the team with big dreams.
- Started the season 3-0 under Coach Wright.
- Faced unexpected challenges that affected the whole team.
- Struggled on the field, with a final record of 1-9.
- Learned valuable lessons about teamwork and perseverance.
It wasn’t the storybook ending I hoped for, but it’s my story, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. We gave it our all, and that’s what matters, right?
