Alright, so y’all wanna know about this Will Rogers fella and the NFL draft, huh? Well, lemme tell ya what I heard, all mixed up like a bowl of grits, ya know? This boy, Will Rogers, he played quarterback, that’s the fella who throws the ball, for Mississippi State.
Now, Mississippi State, they weren’t so good this year. Lost more games than they won, kinda like my chickens when the fox gets in. They went 5-7, and that ain’t nothin’ to brag about. And that coach, Arnett, they fired him right in the middle of things! Can ya believe that? Just tossed him aside like an old shoe.
Will, he got banged up too, injuries and all. Probably why he decided to leave, or “transfer” as them fancy folks say. He’s a good player, though, some folks even thought he might win that Heisman Trophy, that’s a big deal award for the best college player. Heard tell some bettin’ folks put money on him, but I ain’t never understood that gamblin’ stuff. Waste of good money if you ask me.

- Behind some fella named Will Anderson, who they say might be the very first pick in the whole NFL draft next year. That’s somethin’ special, like findin’ a double yolk egg.
Now, this NFL draft, that’s where all them professional teams pick new players. It’s a big to-do, like a county fair but with football players instead of prize-winning pigs. They had it in Detroit this year, and next year, they gonna have it in Green Bay, Wisconsin. That’s way up north, cold as a well digger’s backside in January, I betcha.
This Alex Smith fella, he was a first pick once, years ago. Didn’t do so good at first, kinda like my tomatoes when we get a late frost. But then he got better, played for a bunch of teams, even broke his leg real bad, poor thing. But he came back, tough as an old boot.
So, Will Rogers, he’s tryin’ to get into the NFL draft, maybe in 2025 or somethin’. They got these folks called PFF, and they make a big list, a “Big Board” they call it, of all the good players. They look at how good the players did in college and all that. Will Rogers, I reckon he’ll be on that board, hopin’ to get picked by a good team.
They got this fella, Roger Goodell, he’s the head honcho of the NFL. He’s the one who announces who gets picked. It’s all on TV and radio, folks hollerin’ and cheerin’, just like when the preacher announces the pie auction winner at the church picnic.
So, that’s the gist of it, as best as I can tell ya. Will Rogers, good quarterback, Mississippi State wasn’t so good, NFL draft comin’ up. It’s all a big gamble, like plantin’ seeds in the spring, you never know what’s gonna grow. But that’s life, ain’t it? You just gotta keep on plantin’ and hopin’ for the best.
Heard tell there’s coverage of this whole draft thing, where you can listen to ’em callin’ out the names. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me, but folks seem to like it. Just like them folks that watch them cars go ’round and ’round. To each their own, I always say.
So, will he get drafted? Will he be a star? Who knows? It’s all up in the air, like a kite on a windy day. But he’s a good boy, that Will Rogers, and I wish him all the best. He needs to stay healthy and play hard, and maybe, just maybe, he’ll make it big. Like that fella who won the lottery down at the Piggly Wiggly. You never know what life’ll throw at ya, that’s for sure.
