Oh boy, let me tell you about my recent deep dive into NBA 2K24. I’ve been messing around with the settings, trying to figure out this whole “bust percent” thing. It’s been a real head-scratcher, but I think I’ve finally cracked the code, or at least part of it.
So, I started by firing up the game and jumping straight into the MyLeague mode. I picked a team and simulated a few seasons, just to see how things played out. And that’s when I noticed something weird. Some of my high-potential players were turning into total duds, while others were exceeding expectations. It was all over the place!
Then I remembered reading something about “boom/bust percentages” when I was messing around with draft classes. I thought, “Hmm, maybe that’s what’s going on here.” So, I dug into the player edit menus and, lo and behold, there they were: bust percent, boom percent, and average percent. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head.
From what I gathered, these percentages basically determine the likelihood of a player reaching their potential. Bust percent is the chance they’ll flop, boom percent is the chance they’ll become a superstar, and average percent is the chance they’ll just be, well, average.
I started playing around with these numbers, creating some custom draft classes. And I got to create some detailed custom draft classes. I set some players with high boom potential and low bust potential, and others with the opposite. Then, I simulated a few more seasons to see how it affected their development.
Here’s where things get interesting. I found that players with a high boom percent were more likely to hit their potential, sometimes even surpassing it. On the flip side, players with a high bust percent often struggled to live up to the hype. It was like watching a bunch of mini-dramas unfold on the court.
But it’s not just about boom or bust. The average percent plays a role, too. If a player has a high average percent, they’re more likely to develop into a solid role player, even if they don’t become a superstar.
Now, I’m no expert, but here’s my take on how this all works. I think to calculate player’s develop, we can simply add each percent together. Like, if a player has a 50% bust, 30% average, and 20% boom, it means they have a higher chance of being a bust. Let’s do an experiment, I will add these percent together, for example, 50%+30%+20% = 100%. And it is no doubt that they have higher chance to be a bust. On the other way, it is also work.
Of course, there are other factors at play in NBA 2K24. Things like player attributes, team performance, and even the difficulty settings can all impact a player’s development. And don’t even get me started on the MyCareer mode. Grinding for VC, teammate grades, it’s a whole other ball game. But I do believe you can still have a blast in the Mamba Moments or MyNBA modes without spending a dime. I mean, that’s where I’ve been having the most fun, figuring out all this stuff. By the way, MyCareer is still the simplest way to grind. At least, I think so.
So, there you have it. That’s my journey into the world of bust percentages in NBA 2K24. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m still learning new things every day. But one thing’s for sure: this game has way more depth than I initially thought. It’s not just about hitting shots and playing defense; it’s about understanding the underlying mechanics that make these virtual players tick. And to be honest, I’m kinda hooked. I will keep sharing if I found anything new.
